HOW TO COUPON 101: Terminology

After learning too coupon back in December 2020, it has truly changed my life in so many ways. Not only mines, but for my family as well. During my short time of couponing, I have lessened the burden my mother has on having to spend money on personal and household items.
At the start of my couponing journey, I was overwhelmed and confused on where to start, but a
month later. I’ve accumulated so much information from couponing and wanted to share it with you too, in this beginner’s guide. It only took me about a few weeks to get comfortable, but practice does make perfect so patience is key.

INTRODUCTION
Before you start couponing, I recommend learning the basic terms/abbreviations used within the coupon community. These terms will help you understand and help you succeed when trying to coupon.
Here are some of the most popular terms used:
GENERAL TERMS:
MM (Money Maker): A money maker is any amount that you make (points, money, etc) as a result of couponing. It's also a deal where you leave with more than what you paid.
Rolling: When you use gift cards, rebate apps, or store currency (ex: ECBS, WAGS Cash, etc.) to lower your out of pocket
Manufacturer Coupon (MFR Q/QPON): is a coupon that a company will send out. Coupons are found in mailers, newspapers, printed from the Internet, or found online on apps
BOGO FREE, BOGO 50%, ETC: Buy one, get one free. Buy one, get one 50% off. ETC.
$3/1, $2/2, ETC: $3 off 1 item. $2 off 2 items. ETC.
O.O.P (Out Of Pocket): What you are actually spending
Q: Coupon
Insert: A booklet full of manufacturer coupons. Can be found in the local Sunday newspaper
IP (Internet Printable): Coupons that can be found and printed online, that can be used in-store. Most IP coupons are MFR coupons
SS (SmartSource): Its a website & insert where you can get coupons from
NLA (No Longer Available): A coupons or rebate that has been removed or has expired
STORE SPECIFIC TERMS:
WAGS: Walgreens
CVS: CVS / Longs Drugs
CRT (Cash Register Tape): CVS store coupons, can be found & printed from Redbox or the APP. Can be stacked with MFR coupons
ECB: Extracare Bucks. Currency CVS uses, kinda like a gift card specified only t
WAGS Cash: Currency Walgreens uses uses, kinda like a gift card specified only to CVS
CAT (Catalina): Coupon that prints at the register after your purchase
